The 1950 World Championship Road Race was held in Moorslede, Belgium. The 284 km race course in West Flanders was extremely challenging.
Talented Belgian Alberic “Briek” Schotte attacked late and broke away from an elite group to gain his second World Championship. Dutchman Theo Middlekamp, World Champion in 1947, finished second 59 seconds behind Schotte.
